and then blogged about it…
“If you never try you’ll never know”
I’ve never been one of those people who learn from other people’s mistakes. I run, jump, dive, and fight through everything in my life. I was alway the kid who touched the hot pot, even after my mom said “it’s hot don’t touch”.
I’m a 31 year California girl, who’s done everything the hard way. I was 16 years old when I graduated high school, and instead of getting a head start on college I decided to be a free spirit. Bouncing from place to place, and trying whatever I could get my hands on (be it good or bad).
At eighteen I started dating the man that would change my life (side note – that was the year we got pregnant with our first child a son). Two years later we had our second son, and a year after that we got married. Did I mention I like to do things backwards?
It goes without saying I love my family, I couldn’t imagine my life without them. It also goes without saying kids are a lot of work. While some women are just “cut-out” to be stay at home mothers, I wasn’t one of those women.
“Life is all about balance”
I wanted to be with my kids, but I wasn’t willing to give up my life. The solution… college. College is pretty amazing, in that you get to make your own schedule. I was able to work it out so that I could do both. Take my kids to school, pick them up, help them with their homework, and still have a life outside of my family. A place when I was free to try new things and have adult conversations.
I graduated with a BA in photography with a minor in business. Right out of college I opened a photography studio and worked as a freelance photographer for a number of companies. After a couple years I closed my studio and went to work for a company that promised to teach me everything I ever wanted to know. I’ve spent the last couple years working as a web-designer/graphic designer/product photographer/marketing director/windows application designer.. What can I say I like to try new things and learn wherever I get the opportunity.
